The second stop on
the Michigan Meandering of Grand River Avenue is Webberville, Michigan.
Webberville is a very small town, actually it's considered a village. You'll
probably want to combine this one with one of the other stops, unless you are
planning to play some golf.
In our opinion, the
big attraction for Webberville is the Sinclair Grill. The atmosphere is great
as you can see from the pictures. It's setup like an old diner/gas station.
Your bound see a cool collector's car or motorcycle when you stop in.
The menu includes breakfast served all day, appetizers, hotdogs, coney dogs,
burgers, soups, salads, sandwiches and a rotating dinner menu of fish, steak,
seafood and other homemade specialties. For dessert you can choose from various
fruit pies, including a deep fried pie, and they also feature ice cream from
the MSU Dairy Store, a local favorite. They also offer beer, wine and other
drinks.
Oak Lane Golf Course
is a very well known and sought out course for the Mid-Michigan area. The staff
is very helpful and extremely friendly and the course is known for being in top
shape at all times.
Bernard and Margaret
Simmons are the original owners, officially converting their pine tree farm to
a golf course in 1967. Oak Lane hosts an annual 4-person golf scramble each
year in memory of Bernard Simons. This year is the 7th Annual Memorial Outing,
taking place on July 23rd. Contact Oak Lane for more information. If you'd prefer to eat at the Golf Course,
you can dine at the Oak Lane Grill for appetizers, sandwiches, chicken, shrimp
and other selections.
Webberville will be
having it's Annual Fireman Field Days and Ox Roast the weekend of September
26-28th. Last year, they added a car show to the event.
Christians Greenhouse & Garden Center
Although Christians
has a Williamston address, it's actually closer to Webberville. It's located
right on Grand River Avenue between Williamston and Webberville. Christians has locations in Haslett, HarborSprings, and Williamston. They offer annuals, grasses, perennials, veggies and
herbs, trees and shrubs, pottery, containers and more.
